2nd World Sound Concert

Joburg Theatre and Soundbag Entertainment have partnered to present the 2nd World Sound Concert on the 26th, 27th and 28th August 2022. The 3-day music spectacle will be held in the classy and iconic beautiful Mandela Theatre at the Joburg Theatre Precinct in Braamfontein, Johannesburg.
World Sound Concert was successfully launched in 2019 and, after a 2-year break due to Covid-19, returns to the Joburg Theatre to present the best live music experience in Johannesburg where friends, families and all visitors can enjoy themselves. The concert attracts music lovers from all kinds of backgrounds who are thirsty for new sounds of music that is performed by a core of very talented musicians in a safe, secure, relaxed and friendly environment.
The concert features Khanyisile Mthetwa accompanied by Peter Cartwright on piano. Khanyisile is a highly-skilled multi-award winning classical flutist who is nominated in 3 categories at the 28th South African Music Awards. Sharing the stage with Khanyisile on August 26 (Friday, 8PM) is the original and very gifted Ziza Muftic. Ziza is an award-winning jazz vocalist, pianist and composer who has performed around with many celebrated SA jazz musicians. Performing on August 27 (Saturday, 8PM) is uKhoiKhoi and Sun Xa Experiment. UKhoiKhoi is a unique and talented indigenous-electro duo that uses live loops of electronic instruments fused with poetry, chants and dynamic vocals to create evocative sublime music performances. Sun Xa Experiment is a powerful and very dedicated ancestral-world music band that has captivated audiences with their spiritual performances that include a versatile contemporary African trance dancer. Closing the event on August 28 (Sunday, 3PM) is Dudu Makhoba and Malcolm Jiyane Tree-
Dudu is a gifted and quality jazz vocalist and composer with a soothing and precious vocal tone that leaves audiences in awe. Malcolm is a talented jazz multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and composer who just recently returned from his Europen tour and his album, Umdali, is nominated at this year’s Mzantsi Jazz Awards.
