A CELEBRATION OF AFRICAN FASHION HERITAGE & SARTORIAL LINEAGE

A CELEBRATION OF AFRICAN FASHION HERITAGE & SARTORIAL LINEAGE

Ever the originator, one of SA’s most sought after Sartorialists, designer Palmer Mutandwa, together with Stella Artois, staged an unconventional fashion installation amongst the vineyards of Ground the Venue in Muldersdrift on Sunday afternoon for his label, Button Brothers’ Spring Collection.

A celebration of African heritage and lineage, the Spring Collection was showcased by mannequins wearing the designs, planted amongst the vineyards as though growing from the soil. All the fabrics were hand-selected by Palmer, known for dressing some of Mzansi’s most prominent businesspeople and entertainers.

Exhibiting the brand’s ethos and values, the collection is inspired by multiple facets including structured utilitarian garments as worn by front-line African leaders like Kenneth Kaunda, to more relaxed Cuban-style garments which include the Guayabera (a men’s summer shirt).

“This brings in the old and the new with inspired, iconic garments and newer, more vibrant fabrics. This is the story of me, an African Sartorialist coming home to the most important influences in my life,” said Palmar

“Much like how our European hops are hand-selected to give our beer a distinctive taste, Palmer’s suits are created methodically to create a sophisticated look. We wanted to champion and celebrate his talent, inspiration, and heritage by inviting people to spend some time in an unhurried way, connecting with each other over a leisurely luncheon, in this magnificent location, while sharing Palmer’s stunning new collection. After all, this is what Stella Artois is all about - making time for the Life Artois!” Said Estee Burger, Marketing Manager, Stella Artois
