A Halloween-Filled Success

A Halloween-Filled Success For Cresta Shopping Centre

The Cresta Rooftop Market in partnership with Popping took place this past weekend which boasted a number of amazing businesses in the food, apparel, recreational and beauty space. With no rain in sight, it was the perfect weekend to spend with family and friends.

Children of all ages and some adults too, came dressed in their favourite comic heroes, monsters and cartoon characters to celebrate Halloween. Coupled with SOMA School of Make-Up Artistry adding a touch of character to their faces with face painting which everybody loved.

With Young Rebel Recording Studio entertaining crowds on both days, families got to sing and dance to their favourite songs. While some shoppers were enjoying the entertainment, adrenaline junkies showed up at Jozi Kart which launched this past weekend, and had many petrolheads lining up to race against each other. Despite Jozi Kart being fully booked this past weekend, consumers can still enjoy a day of racing by popping into Cresta Shopping Centre and making their bookings.

Of the vendors that had their products on display were; Slay with Kay Fitness, Carrington Cookies, Masodi Organics, Sausage Saloon, Kalahari Coffee and Manaba just to mention a few.

Manaba which is an apparel brand that sells t-shirts, sweatshirts, jumpers and beanies, was started by Sonti Lebopa in hopes of reinforcing positive change and has become a protest brand that stands against bullying. The brand’s purpose is to encourage people to turn their struggles into a solid foundation to do good for themselves and for their communities as well.

Lebopa expressed his gratitude for the support of his brand at the market. "This was our first time at the market and we've been so grateful to both Cresta Shopping Centre and the lovely customers for coming by and supporting our stall. In time, we want to grow our brand and reach more communities so they know about us and what we have to offer."

Lebopa is a changemaker who is part of Growing Champions – an NPO dedicated to mentoring young people and helping them break barriers to become agents of change. Cresta Shopping Centre’s involvement with Growing Champions has been a long-term partnership that aims to assist changemakers such as Lebopa to realise their potential as entrepreneurs.

“Hosting this market has been met with such great reception especially from all the businesses that participated. As Cresta, one of our core philosophies is to support businesses that support us as an entity in the community. Being able to invest in brands like Manaba and equip them with resources to run their business, is just the beginning of a beautiful journey which we hope will grow and have us investing in more small businesses and entrepreneurs as part of our contribution towards the National Development Plan.” Virginia Bester, General Manager of Cresta Shopping Centre.

"The fact that the market was able to incorporate many different activities for adults and children all in one weekend, shows how big the potential is for the Cresta Rooftop Market to potentially carry on with having such a market in future. We're extremely grateful to our existing Cresta customers and our new ones who showed up to this amazing event in support of local businesses in the community."
