One of South Africa’s biggest Kwaito artist, Professor, whose streak began in 2009 with the release of his album 'University of Kalawa Jazmee'. What followed was a string of party-starting bangers which are still classics to this day. Professor has amassed numerous awards in his career, including Male Artist of the Year, Best Kwaito Album (University of Kalawa Jazmee) and Record of the Year (Imoto).
In 2012 when Professor returned with his second solo offering titled ‘The Orientation’. The album was preceded by singles Baphi, One Night Stand, Ntombazam & I Wish. In that album Professor worked a numerous established musicians including Magesh, Speedy, AKA, Zakwe, Ishmael, Stoan, Stax and Zola among other. One of the popular songs on the album was “Fingerprints” which he did with his brother, Character and legendary South African record producer Oskido. “The Orientation” won Best Kwaito Album and secured Professor the Best Male Artist Award at the 12th Annual Metro FM Music Awards.
In 2015 Professor released a hit single titled “Nguye Lona” in which he featured Sdudla no Mathousand & Heavy K and in the same year, Professor was featured on the smash hit, ‘KOTW anthem’ by Sphectacula and DJ Naves from their debut studio album, Kings of the Weekend. In 2017, he collaborated with Sandra Ndebele, a Zimbabwean artist on her song ‘Lizwile’ and the song debuted at number 22 in the iTunes Top 200 tracks Australia World Music. In 2018, He released yet another album titled ‘Composed By Jesus Christ’ that featured his hit track ‘Brand New’ featuring Feye.
And just when the masses thought Professor has gone silent, he has now returned once again in 2022 to boast his versatility in music as he hopped on an Amapiano track titled ‘Staan Op’ featuring the Amapiano pioneer De Mthuda, MKeyz & Emza. The Kwaito legend famously known for his deep husky voice has once again graced the industry with his vocals on the track.
