RED BULL BC ONE ANNOUNCES ALL STAR BREAKING CAMP ACTIVITIES AHEAD OF BC ONE NATIONAL FINAL THIS JUNE


The search for the best breakers to challenge each other at the national finals of Red Bull BC One has come to an end. The world’s most prestigious breaking competition took to Johannesburg, Gqeberha, Cape Town and Oudtshoorn and found the best breakers that will dance it out for the coveted title at the Red Bull BC One national final set to be held in Cape Town at Cape Town Stadium on Sunday, 26 June 2022. 

In celebration of 15 years in South Africa, Red Bull BC One will host a camp leading up to the national finals. The three-day camp will feature crew vs crew battles, graffiti showcases, talks, workshops and screenings by Red Bull BC One All Stars, including Lilou, Jey from Legiteam Obstruxion, B-Boy Tawfiq, B-Boy Bart, B-Boy Dark Hero, B-Girl Vee and B-Girl Sarah Bee. 

Day 1 sees a special workshop with B-Boy Lilou titled ‘Attitude’. Those lucky enough to have caught Lilou tear up a battle will have witnessed a performance they won't forget. His musical dexterity is next level and both his playfulness while taunting opponents and the creativity he applies to his battles tactics are out of this world. This will be followed by a screening of Street Off where Lilou goes deep into the multiple countries around the world he has performed and gives a view of his experience and learnings. A major highlight for day 1 is the ‘First Gen Battle’ which features breaking crews from the 80’s go head to head with Da Timers vs. Ballistic Rockers which will be DJ’d by Ready D. Crashfest will conclude the day with international breakers Tawfiq (Netherlands), Alvin (Columbia), Dark Hero (Nigeria) alongside local legend B-Boy Benny and others. Day 2 features an action-packed set of workshops and showcase battles. International B-Boy Jey from Legiteam Obstruxion will perform a ‘Master Footwork’ workshop and a ‘Footworkers Jam and Attitude’ workshop alongside B-Boy Lilou. The B-Girls will be at the forefront with B-Girl Sarah Bee from France holding the ‘B-Girls Around The World Connect’ workshop with local b-girls. Day 2 also comprises exhilarating battles between local and international B-Boys and B-Girls with ‘Bonnie & Clyde’, ‘Crew On Crew Break Battle’ and ‘South Africa Local Heroes vs. Africa Heroes’. The South Africa local heroes captained by B-Boy Benny take on African heroes representing the North, South, East and West. The local heroes include: Toufeeq, Curse, Meaty, Shorty, Sam, while the Africa Heroes will be represented by D12 (Algeria), Darkhero (Nigeria), Delkrim (Ivory Coast), Lion (Tanzania) - captained by Red Bull All Star Lilou. The final day 3 sees a DJ Workshop with DJ Tha Cutt as well as a look at the 15 years of Red Bull BC One with international and local breakers. The day culminates into the national final which will crown the Red Bull BC One South Africa B-Boy and B-Girl champion for 2022. More information on day 3 can be found here

The winners of the Red Bull BC One South African title will represent the country at the World Final being held in New York on 12 November 2022.  

Here is a list of the top 24 breakers that battled through four qualifying workshops and cypher battles around the country. These 16 b-boys and 8 b-girls will go head-to-head on 26 June at Cape Town Stadium.
