After the breakthrough of his first Def Jam release single “Thebelele” featuring Loki. ASAPH is back with the most anticipated full body project “The Big Mhofu EP”, with Bhekiwe taking the centre stage as she graces “The Big Mhofu EP” with vocals on Learn To Live, First Day and Nothing To Lose, andHoly Alpha being the only rapper featured.
Known for his kwaito influenced rap feel, multi award-winning, MTV Africa Music Awards - Listeners Choice (2021 Nominee), ASAPH, is giving us a different feel on this project, from rapping about love and expressing his feelings to a significant other on a leading track “Learn to live” he says: “It’s kinder hard in the city and I’m lonely”, to paying homage towards a fellow Zimbabwean born legendary musical genius the late Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi on “Mtukudzi Flow”using boastful raps accompanied by boom-bap instrumental production.
Asaph is yet to play his part in bridging the musical gap between South Africa and Zimbabwe with this seven-track EP titled “The Big Mhofu” which has a deeper meaning behind it, Mhofu Totem (in Shona language) is an Eland deer looking like animal, which is the largest/biggest antelope in Southern Africa and it Is his family’s spirit animal. on this EP ASAPH unfolds and raps about his personal reflections “The Big Mhofu” see’s ASAPH introducing himself to the world.
