BABETTE SENDS OUT AN EMPOWERMENT MESSAGE TO ALL WOMEN IN HER LATEST SINGLE “PORCELAIN DOLL”
Babette returns with her third single ‘PORCELAIN DOLL’ which is the 3rd single to her debut album. The single follows her previous drops, ‘Invincible’ and ‘Falling’ which are soulful heartbreaker anthems.
‘PORCELAIN DOLL’ sets the tone higher with a completely new sound accompanied by empowering lyrics and a strong message to all women ‘that it is ok to take risks and live your truth without following the ways of the world’. Babette was out with friends one evening when she was unwittingly given a drug cocktail in one of her drinks. She made it home safe but overslept and missed a brunch date with a guy the next morning. He wouldn’t understand the reason and accused her of being ‘that type of woman’ who parties too hard and ignores the fact that she is a cancer survivor. This got her to re-examine the way men look at women and the judgment that stems from people wanting to control others.
As always, Babette’s lived experiences make their way into her music and Porcelain Doll came to light. It is an ode to women taking ownership of themselves in a world where control over others has become a currency. Her song seeks to encourage people to love their lives, be responsible for their actions but not let others determine how they are perceived. This song is the empowerment we all seek.
