Celebrating Youth, Music, and Podcasts with Government Support

The South African Podcast and Music Festival (SAPMF) is excited to announce its inaugural event, supported by the Department of Sports, Arts, and Culture. This groundbreaking festival aims to foster youth engagement and creativity through podcasts and music, aligning with the ethos of working together to create change.

"This festival is a perfect platform to engage with a youth audience, especially during Youth Month," says Zimasa Velaphi, Chief Director of Communication at the Department. "Our involvement coincides with 30 years of democracy and the explosion of podcasts and the vibrant SA music production scene. We are proud to support this initiative through the department."

Festival organizer Nicolas Regisford highlights the importance of this partnership: "The sponsorship from the Department is a testament to the potential of this learning hub we are creating. We are now truly getting the opportunity to rewrite the African narrative in an authentic and global effort. Each podcaster contributes to how the world views Africa, and this is an exciting time to participate."

The two-day festival is packed with leaders of industry disruptors and veterans, including Antos Stella, CEO of The Music Arena; Dr. Thebe Ikalafeng, founder of Brand Africa; Gareth Cliff, podcast pioneer; DJ LeloWhatsgood; Robot Boii, and many more. This gathering represents a meeting of generations and influential voices.

Antos Stella, whose team will be leading the Music Masterclass on Saturday, shared her excitement: "Every song tells a unique story, and I'm looking forward to sharing insights on the music industry today alongside my esteemed team. This festival is an incredible opportunity to connect with young creatives and guide them on their journey."

In the lead-up to the festival this weekend, attendees can anticipate a podcast and music masterclass, live workshops on podcast creation, and a Music A&R session with industry experts from The Music Arena, Gallo, and CCA. Media partners SABC Plus and Arena Holdings are also collaborating with the festival to realize its full potential.

DJ Sbu, along with his colleagues from Radio 2000 and SAFM, will be broadcasting live from the event over the weekend. "This is a landmark event for the youth and the creative industry in South Africa. We're thrilled to bring the excitement and energy of the festival to our listeners," DJ Sbu remarked.

As we approach Youth Day on June 16, the SA Podcast and Music Festival promises an unmatched learning, networking, and entertainment experience. Regisford adds, "This is not just an event; it's the start of a family—a community of content creators, platform owners, and brands. Let's see where this journey takes us."

Much is in store for this Youth Month extravaganza, making it an unmissable event for anyone passionate about music, podcasts, and the future of South Africa's creative landscape.
