COCO JONES TAPS JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE FOR NEW “ICU (REMIX),” OUT TODAY VIA HIGH STANDARDZ/DEF JAM RECORDINGS

“Coco Jones won Best New Artist, prevailing in an all-female field that included GloRilla and Ice Spice. Jones is the first female R&B singer (as opposed to rapper) to win in this category since SZA five years ago. This boosts Jones’ chances of landing a Grammy® nomination for Best New Artist this year.” – Billboard

Coco Jones - riding a wave of early Grammy buzz after her historic BET Awards win for Best New Artist - has tapped Justin Timberlake for the “ICU (Remix),” available now via High Standardz/ Def Jam Recordings. Timberlake - who, like Coco, is an accomplished singer/actor and a Tennessee native - graces “ICU” with a silky, soulful vocal performance. The gold-certified R&B smash is leading the charge in a huge breakthrough year for Coco, having amassed over 185 Million streams worldwide and hitting #1 on the Urban mainstream radio chart.

In a highly competitive all-female field, Coco emerged as the Best New Artist winner at this year’s 23rd annual BET Awards. Putting an exclamation point on her win, Coco stunned the audience at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles with her live performance of “ICU. ”

Coco also received BET Award nominations this year in the fields of Best Female R&B/Pop, and Best Actress.  She was previously nominated as ‘Best New Artist’ at the BET Soul Train Awards ’22(where she delivered a show-stopping performance of “ICU”); and won ‘Outstanding New Artist’ atthe 54th NAACP Image Awards. Coco wowed nationwide audiences with her red-hot late night debut on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Named one of the Top 10 Best Songs of 2022 by The Hollywood Reporter, “ICU” is one of the focal tracks on Coco’s WHAT I DIDN’T TELL YOU DELUXE EP.  Released via High Standardz/Def Jam Recordings in January, the EP has garnered over 300 Million global streams across all platforms.

2023 has turned into a landmark year for Coco, who first broke into the entertainment scene as a young Disney star, went on to star in movies, then joined the cast (as ‘Hilary Banks’) in Peacock's Bel-Air, the Fresh Prince reboot that premiered in February 2022. In March 2023, Coco was selected for BET Amplified Artist Of the Month.  Coco has also been selected for YouTube Music’s Black Voices ’23, Spotify’s ‘23 R&B Artists to Watch, Pandora’s ’23 Artist to Watch, Apple Music’s Future 40, and Essence’s 35 Under 35: Young, Black, & Amazing.

Tickets for Coco’s 16-city ‘WHAT I DIDN’T TELL YOU TOUR’ of the U.S. and Canada are on sale now via her website, www.therealcocojones.com.  Coco’s first major tour of North America will open on August 5th in Ontario, California, and wrap up in Norfolk, Virginia, on September 3rd.  Opening for Coco will be Detroit R&B singer Ebony Riley (fka Riley Montana); joined on select dates by Seattle singer Haben Abraham, and by Coco’s fellow Peacock Bel-Air cast mate Simone Joy Jones.  (Please see complete itinerary below.)

ABOUT COCO JONES:

Coco Jones – 25-year-old multi-hyphenate actor, singer/songwriter, and star on the Peacock hit Bel-Air, released her major-label debut EP What I Didn’t Tell You in November 2022, which included the hit single “ICU.”  Coco has been in film and on TV since she was a tween, starting out as a recurring guest on Disney’s musical sketch comedy, So Random!, and, in 2012, as the golden-voiced love interest in the network’s TV movie, Let It Shine. She has stayed busy ever since, flexing her range across titles that span adventure romps, intense dramas, holiday fare, and comedy horror (Netflix’s Vampires vs. the Bronx).  You also may have seen her on the tiny screen – with millions of social media followers, dedicated to upping representation for proud, talented, dark-skinned Black women.  Most recently, she won Outstanding New Artist at the 54th NAACP Image Awards.

In 2020, in an act of vulnerability and bravery, Jones decided to respond to a viral tweet asking what had happened with her career via YouTube. She filled fans in on obstacles she’d faced as a dark-skinned black girl in both the acting and music industry and was met with an outpour of support. “It reignited me dreaming big dreams,” Jones says of the endearing online experience. From there, she began speaking positive affirmations, claiming the creative endeavors she longed to sink her teeth into.

Fast-forward to 2023, as Coco Jones celebrates the first officially certified RIAA Gold record of her career, for the massive hit “ICU.”  The multi-faceted artist, signed to High Standardz/Def Jam Recordings, has now launched her music career with a brand of R&B as soulful as it is relatable, as diary-honest as it is marked by powerful storytelling. And though she’s young, it’s been a long time coming.
