Durban duo Kususa collaborate with Hip hop legend ANATII on a new Afro-house hit ‘Ematshwaleni’

Production and electronic dance music (EDM) duo Kususa, alongside South African hip-hop legend ANATII, have just released their new track, featuring the vocal talents of Mawhoo, Noxolo Ngema, and producer King DeeToy. The collaboration marks a significant moment in the music industry, combining influential vocals and innovative production to create a standout Afro-House track.

Formed in early 2016, Kususa consists of Kunzima Theology (Joshua Sokweba) and Samurai Yasusa (Mncedi Tshicila). The duo gained recognition with their first EP, ‘Kusuka Sukela’, released in mid-2017 by the UK label DM Recordings. Their remix of “Traveller” by Lizwi and DeMajor became a major hit in 2017, charting in over 50 DJ charts on Traxsource and reaching number 53 on Traxsource’s Top 200 Best Selling Afro House of the year. While this collaboration is unconventional, it is also no surprise that Kusuka would collaborate with such a powerful name in the Hip Hop scene, and pop culture in general. ANATII brings his signature tribal influence to the track, enriching its soundscape with his unique style. This is expertly balanced with the clinical production approach of Durban-based duo Kusuka . Mawhoo, renowned for her hit-making skillset, leads the track with her sweeping, rich vocals. Her voice, known for its depth and emotional color, anchors the song and infuses it with an undeniable resonance. Her delivery, coupled with her biological sister Noxolo Ngema’s emotive contributions, skillfully conveys the track’s deep and painful message surrounding the struggles of young people facing poverty and joblessness, which often lead to substance abuse.

The collaboration between Kusuka , ANATII, and the featured artists results in a track that is not only musically rich but also socially poignant. The diverse range of genres brought together by each musician on this track highlights its musical brilliance. The rich sound profile emerges from the blend of artists, each known for their unique styles, collaborating to craft a sonically immersive experience for listeners.
