THE NINA BROTHERS
GET DOWN WITH THE NINA BROTHERS
Right as we were all in awe of his genius level talent as an artist, South African Music Lifetime Achievement Award Winner, Joe Nina, continued to set the streets ablaze when he introduced the trio that is Nina Brothers to the 90’s Kwaito scene. The group, who are Joe’s younger brothers, certainly stepped out of his shadow when they released the album, “Get Down – Sgubhu,” which spawned the smash hit, “Sgubhu,” which literally means a drum, but has been used as a slang term to refer to the beat of a song.
Joe Nina produced the entire album, which continues to be a top mention on conversations about Kwaito classics. The album had previously not been released digitally and for the very first time, Nina Brothers fans will get the opportunity to reconnect with the music through streaming platforms.
In 1995 his siblings, Vusi, Jeff and Thabo framed a gathering referred to Nina Siblings as" (Thabo in this way left the gathering). Nonhlanhla, who was the sister to the Nina Brother later joined the band and focused on backing vocals.
