Get Ready for a Celebration of Creativity and Talent with Red Bull 64 Bars Season 3

Red Bull 64 Bars Season 3 is rolling out its second phase over the next few weeks. In the spirit of innovation and to add another dimension to the series, Red Bull 64 Bars has included a competition format in this new season whereby an amateur rapper gets the chance to drop their 64 Bars as part of the season.

Red Bull 64 Bars is an international initiative that is now in its third year in South Africa, challenging both emerging and established rappers to showcase their skills. Series 3 features 8 established rapper and producer duos from across the country as well as one amateur winner, with the first five episodes having already been released on YFM YouTube channel.

The concept is simple yet demands a good understanding of rhythm and beats. In rap, a single bar represents four counts over a beat. With 64 bars, there's enough space for approximately two minutes of lyrics. Red Bull 64 Bars challenges rappers to deliver 64 consecutive bars over a beat of their choice.

As the first five episodes illustrated, the series shines a spotlight on South Africa's top-tier artists and producers, showcasing the country's remarkable and diverse rap culture.

What makes the second half of season three extra special is the addition of the Red Bull 64 Bars Booth winner. “Wow! It's unbelievable. I still can’t believe that my talent has been recognised to a level where Red Bull would acknowledge me, “said SirBelow Worldwide who won the 64 Bars Booth competition in which he had to visit one of the scheduled locations with the mobile Red Bull 64 Bars recording booth, choose from one of the three provided beats and lay down his 64 bars. A producer on-site then handled the mix and did the rest before SirBelow Worldwide could upload his track. “It feels surreal. I'm incredibly grateful.”

SirBelow Worldwide has his name up in proverbial lights along with the likes of artists such as Usmamane, Khuli Chana, A-Reece and Lady Du.

"Being part of Red Bull 64 Bars is incredible. I had a blast recording it. I wish there were more than 64 bars because I had a lot to say. Thank you, Red Bull, for this opportunity,” said Usmamane. Khuli Chana echoed their sentiments and, being a return artist to the process reflected on the creative process: "I'm honoured to be part of Red Bull 64 Bars, where talent and passion come together to create limitless possibilities. I enjoyed the challenge it brought and working with my producer, Frank Pollo."

If that is not enough to get you excited to tune in to episodes then A-Reece perhaps best summed it up:” Anything related to rapping makes me happy, so I'm thrilled to be on Red Bull 64 Bars, give it a listen!”
