While in the USA, Kim seized the chance to meet with Phil Lipschutz, Founder and Owner of the trendsetting sneaker brand 'Unheard Of.' Together, they filmed two special episodes of her popular YouTube series, ‘Kickin’ It with Kim Jayde.’ These special episodes, set to premiere in October 2024, will delve into the brand's exciting collaborations with Adidas and give viewers an exclusive sneak peek at their upcoming drop. The episodes will also share insight into Kim and Phil’s journeys as entrepreneurs from small towns, dealing with challenges like mental health, imposter syndrome and share valuable advice on how to overcome it all to build a successful brand.
Kim’s commitment to celebrating her Zimbabwean roots and South African base, is evident in her work. With every project, she not only represents herself but also stands as a beacon of pride for her heritage. Her vibrant energy and passion continue to inspire many, proving that representation matters, and creativity knows no borders – and she certainly showcased this at Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Summit in Ohio.
“When I was growing up, it wasn’t seen as cool to be African. We always looked to the west to define fashion, music, pop culture etc. In the last few years that’s been flipped on its head,” Kim shares. “Now the world’s eyes are on us and that gives me such a sense of purpose and drive - contributing towards the global narrative of what Zimbabweans, South Africans, and African women are doing. We really are doing some innovative and inspirational things in this world!”
