MA-E DROPS “PLAY THE LONG GAME” FEATURING BOSPIANII


Following the release of his first single of the year “Lento” featuring BosPianii is legendary Kwaito and Hip-Hop star, Ma-E as he returns with a brand new 4-track EP titled “Play The Long Game”.

In the brand-new project, you get to explore an Afro-fusion sound consisting of Afro-pop and Hip-Hop with a touch of the Amapiano log drum.

 

The EP is first opened with an ear-grabbing single, “Las’Khona” with a well-guided hook sung by vocalist Vernotile and a verse from Saijan K. alongside Ma-E.

Fans are then taken over by the 2nd track “Zithande” which was the lead single to the project. In ”Zithande (Luv Thyself),” Ma-E skillfully blends urban and indigenous sounds, resulting in a seamless and effortlessly enjoyable record.

The fusion of these elements creates a captivating and easily accessible listening experience.

ABOUT MA-E

Ezee ‘Ma-E’ Hanabe’ was born in Pimville, Soweto. Together with his brother and fellow Teargas member, Ntukza, got into rapping and built the street buzz by freestyling at kasi sessions like Black Sundae and Slaghuis then later started doing their own sessions in Chiawelo, Soweto.

Ma-E first got a taste of the limelight when he was chosen to act in the play Shaka Zulu and even got to tour Scotland with the play in 2004.

It was upon his return that him and his brother Ntukza joined forces with fellow Vaal University of Technology (VUT) student K.O and thus Teargas was born.

To date, Teargas has released four critically acclaimed, award-winning, and commercially successful albums which scored them a BET Awards Nomination; ‘K' shubile K'bovu’, ‘Wafa Wafa’, ‘Dark Or Blue’ and ‘Num8er Num8er’.

The success and popularity of Teargas has helped build Ma-E into an African star and through his various collaborations with other artists Ma-E has become one of the most prominent Hip Hop artists in South Africa.

 

The Feeling’ with Angolan super star Paul G, (the single went on to reach number 1 in Angola, Portugal and Brazil) ‘Chillin’ with Khuli Chana (for Khuli Chana’s ‘Lost in Times ’ album) DJ Vigi’s ‘Sgelekeqe’ that also featured Maggz and PRO DJ Speedsta’ s ‘Couple More’ L-Tido’ s highly popular ‘Steve Kekana Remix’ alongside Cassper Nyovest and Maggz Da Les ’ club banger “6am” featuring Moozlie taken off the North God album MTV Title sequence for "Shuga" with Nasty C and Seyi shay.

 

In 2016 Ma-E released his highly anticipated solo album "Township Counsellor" which was well received by his fans and the streets which included chart-topping hits like: uGogo, Lie 2 Me feat. AKA, Hlasela and My Way feat. Emtee. Ma-E officially released his sophomore album titled “212” in December 2017, inspired by the house he grew up in Soweto Pimville, boasting top features with artists Da Les, Yanga, Maggz, Kid X, Gemini Major and more.

This is a truly authentic body of work that resembles his trials and tribulations growing up in the township, as well as those currently faced by the SA Urban Youth.
