Recording Artist Nanteg Empowers African Identity & Independence in New Single "Imake"

Rising recording artist Nanteg is making waves with her latest single, "Imake," a powerful anthem celebrating African identity and the ability to create wealth from within. Inspired by a personal experience and her rural Zimbabwean roots, Nanteg delivers a message of confidence and empowerment through her music.

"At its core, 'Imake' is a song about one's ability to make money and the confidence to do so," explains Nanteg. "I wrote the song after an argument with my sister who is in the diaspora. She believed that moving abroad meant making more money, but I strongly felt that as Africans, we have the resources and resilience to thrive wherever we are."

In the song and its accompanying visuals, Nanteg showcases the richness of African culture, highlighting indigenous symbols of wealth such as huts and nkone cattle. "I wanted to convey that making money is not just about the American dream; it's about embracing our African heritage and aspirations," she adds. "The decorated huts symbolize pride and aspiration for young women, while cattle represent traditional symbols of wealth within our communities."

Collaborating with producers Jeremiah and Audius, Nanteg crafted a sound that resonates with her upbringing in rural Zimbabwe. "Drums are central to our cultural celebrations and rituals, so incorporating them into the music was essential for me," she shares. "My background serves as the canvas on which I paint my sound."

"Imake'' marks Nanteg's third single following the releases of "Legend" and "Hallelujah," introducing audiences to her unique musical style. "I hope people can embrace the authenticity and diversity in my music," she says.

Looking ahead, Nanteg teases her next single, "Everywhere and Everything," a love song set for release in the summer. "I'm excited to showcase my versatility and surprise listeners with the visuals and sound," she reveals. "Expect something special in August!"

With "Imake," Nanteg continues to champion African identity and financial independence, inspiring listeners to embrace their heritage and pursue their dreams.
