SOUTH AFRICAN JAZZ LEGEND DON LAKA'S ALBUM 'HERITAGE' SET FOR STREAMING DEBUT IN 2023


South African jazz legend Don Laka is set to digitally release his highly acclaimed album, Heritage, on streaming platforms for the first time in April 2023. The album, which was previously only available on CD, is being re-released in time for South Africa's Freedom Day and will feature a range of iconic struggle songs that have become an integral part of the country's cultural heritage.

 

The album, which was originally released on CD several years ago, includes a diverse selection of popular tracks like Noma Kukubi,  Senzeni Na, Siyaya Epitoli, Dubula, Solomon, and Hamba Kahle Mkhonto, among many more. Laka, who has been in the music industry for over 50 years, believes that these songs should be preserved for future generations and serve as a reminder of the country's struggle against apartheid.

 

Despite the songs' association with the apartheid era, Laka believes that they continue to inspire hope and courage, and hopes that the album will help to promote South Africa's cultural heritage to the rest of the world. He has also added a touch of blues and funk to the album to give it a unique sound, while retaining the classic jazz style that he is renowned for.
