Themed TRANS-SEASONAL PRESENTATION SHOWCASE season, Soweto Fashion Week is once again bringing together designers from Soweto and across South Africa to showcase some future fashion trends.

Although the fashion scene in South Africa currently has an appetite for being behind a year or two from global trends hence Soweto Fashion Week, in keeping up with trends, has taken the leap of fashion faith to make it its theme for the 2022 TRANS-SEASONAL PRESENTATION SHOWCASE season.

The carefully selected designers, who will have to impress and show South Africa how high their talent soar are Dejavu Not A Secret, UJU Designs, N.O.T.E, Fresh Wear, SIBU, FDB and Makgale.

Established in 2011, Soweto Fashion Week, founded by Entrepreneur Stephen Manzini, has for the past nine years showcased some of Townships finest fashion labels including Urban Zulu, Zamaswazi and Floyd avenue to mention but a few.

“Those attending Soweto Fashion Week can expect high fashion from both established to relatively unknown brands such as Makgale 3rd runner up and N.O.T.E winner of the SABC 1 fashion competition Raw Silk, Mercia Ramagaga who’s showcased at the London Fashion Week and other international platforms to name a few . After COVID-19 and a 2 year block on events, our passion is still consistent unearthing top talent in the fashion industry. Soweto is alive with creativity, with many designers longing to establish themselves on big stages and that’s what we are all about.” says Founder, Stephen Manzini.

Soweto Fashion Week has found new and exciting partnerships with organisations such as Coca-Cola which is supporting the event for the first time, Soweto Theatre, Havillah Beauty, City of Johannesburg and Soweto TV.

The event has attracted the attention of international media, with the event showcased on international platforms like the BBC and Fox News.  The fashion event has also attracted the attendance of high profile guests, including the former US Ambassador to South Africa, Patrick Gaspard, who endorsed the event on behalf of the US Government.

“Soweto Fashion Week does not only place the South African fashion, beauty and modelling industries on the stage but it places our world class facilities for the world to see what more can be done in a Theatre space. It showcases our contribution to this immensely growing industry. As we sit at the heart of the most famous township, we are proud to be a part of this force promoting the work of young black designers from different townships, as well as those from urban areas and abroad. Soweto Fashion Week is also known for runway seasons with an added fuel to the fire by plus-size inclusivity,” says Vincent Motau-Soweto Theatre General Manager.

Come and witness some fashion trends that have resurfaced after Covid 19 with a vengeance on the fashion scene, with 2022/3 seeing the rise, endurance, evolution of color blocking of pink, red, and incorporation of Dopamine dressing on 02 December at the Soweto Theatre at only R50 a ticket.
