THE BATTLE TO REPRESENT SOUTH AFRICA IN PARIS IS ON!

THE BATTLE TO REPRESENT SOUTH AFRICA IN PARIS IS ON!

After several exciting qualifier events that were held to find the leading breakers around the country, the moment to crown South Africa’s best b-boy and b-girl is finally here!

Red Bull’s mission to give wings to dancers involved seeking breakers from across Johannesburg, East London, Cape Town, and Oudtshoorn and eventually selecting the most talented to compete at the Red Bull BC One National final. Taking place on 22 April 2023, the finals will see a variety of styles on display as the breakers jostle for the coveted prize at this year’s edition which marks 16 years of Red Bull BC One in South Africa. Different flows, pops, locks, and freezes will be broken out for what is the most prestigious one-on-one breakdancing event in the world.

The glamorous Sun Exhibits, GrandWest will provide the perfect backdrop for the festivities, where the nation’s top 20 breakers (16 b-boys and 4 b-girls) will strut their stuff on the Mother City’s dancefloors for a chance to represent Mzansi at the Red Bull BC One World Finals taking place in Paris' Stade Roland-Garros on October 21, 2023

The upcoming world finals are a fitting way to celebrate the official inclusion of breaking as part of the Olympic Games in 2024. This breakthrough validates Red Bull’s continued commitment to the sport, with the upcoming installment marking the 20th BC One World Final since 2004. After 60 cyphers and camps were held in 30 locations around the world, South Africa’s top breakers will have the opportunity to showcase their skills alongside their international peers.

With Red Bull BC One South Africa continuing to celebrate the art form of breakdancing, participants and spectators alike can look forward to a memorable cultural affair filled with great beats, fashion, and moves from this year’s final, including performances by Ready D, Deekoala, and Chase Williams.
