Celebrate 40 years of ‘Who you gonna call’ when Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire spooks up Apple TV and DStv Box Office

Who you gonna call? For a supernatural action comedy that will have the whole family glued to their seats, there’s only one mismatched group to call on: the old-meets-new team from Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, coming exclusively to Apple TV on 21 June and DStv Box Office on 28 June 2024.

Brought to you by Sony Pictures Entertainment, this box-office smash sees the Spengler family returning to where all the mayhem started – the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level.

But when the discovery of an ancient artefact unleashes an army of ghosts that casts a death chill on the city, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.

Familiar faces from the original 1984 Ghostbusters movie include Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts. They team up with the Ghostbusters: Afterlife squad, with Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard and Mckenna Grace reprising their roles. Richard Roeper of the Chicago Sun-Times wrote that Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire “carries the same endearingly goofy, science-nerd spirit of the first film and delivers a delightful balance of slimy ghost stuff, sharp one-liners, terrific VFX and a steady stream of callbacks to various characters, human and otherwise, from the 1984 movie.”

What better way to celebrate 40 memorable years of ghostbusting fun? Buckle up for a wild and ghostly ride, where nostalgia trip meets rollicking family adventure!

Directed by Gil Kenan, who co-wrote the film with Jason Reitman, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire will be casting its spooky spell over Apple TV and DStv Box Office this June. Don’t miss it!
