CROWNED MZANSI’S BEST STREET DANCER?
THE RED BULL DANCE YOUR STYLE SOUTH AFRICA TOP 16 ANNOUNCED
The search for the best local street dancer is over, the public’s votes are in and the Red Bull Dance Your Style Top 16 has been announced. The national final will take place on 23 October in Cape Town.
Top 16 dancers will battle it out at the national final by showcasing their versatility with the unique street dance styles of South Africa such as pantsula, sbujwa, amapiano and many more. The audience holds the power to decide on who represents South Africa at the Red Bull Dance Your Style World Final on 4 December in Johannesburg.
These 16 street dancers are a combination of the five regional winners, three wildcards and eight winners from the Top 25 online voting. The regional winners Adonis Huntley (JHB), Abisalom (PLK), Verb (DBN), KJA (Gqeberha), Delly (CPT) all earned their spots into the national finals at the regional tour stops and roadshows that were held throughout the country.
The wildcards consist of 2018 Red Bull Dance Your Style South Africa winner Tebza who was recently announced as the first South African dancer featured on the Red Bull limited edition can. He will be joined by 2019 Red Bull Dance Your Style South Africa winner Lee Shane, as well as vouge dancer and choreographer Shanny J.
Lee Shane represented South Africa at the 2019 Red Bull Dance Your Style final in Paris and is itching to get back on stage in front of his hometown fans. “Being back on stage at Red Bull Dance Your Style and having the chance to represent South Africa again is a huge milestone for me. I cannot wait to show my home audience what I have up my sleeves for this year’s national final.” says Lee Shane. Shanny J was selected as a wildcard and took part in the Johannesburg roadshow workshops earlier in the year. “It’s an honour to be selected as a wildcard in the Red Bull Dance Your Style national final and a dream come true. I hope to impress the audience and make it through to the world final.” says Shanny J.
The online voted winners are Xena Mcnabb, Phetty, Thatso, Sne, Leecore Black, Terry Sauls, Didi_Fada, and King Swagg.
