Mx Blouse Releases Latest EP 'Emotional Home'
Mx Blouse is a Johannesburg-based rapper and artist known for their genre-defying music that blends rap, electronic, kwaito, and dance influences. Since 2017, they have released several critically acclaimed projects and singles, garnering recognition both locally and internationally. Mx Blouse continues to push the boundaries of contemporary music with their innovative approach and dynamic performances.
The rapper and genre-blending artist has released their highly anticipated new EP, "Emotional Home". Known for their innovative fusion of rap, electronic music, kwaito, and various dance music styles, Mx Blouse’s latest work showcases a fresh sonic direction, infusing R&B, jazz, and lo-fi elements into their signature sound.
Since bursting onto the scene in 2017, Mx Blouse has earned critical acclaim for their boundary-pushing music, including standout singles like “No Match,” which was named one of Apple Music South Africa's 100 Best Songs of 2019. Their evolving artistry has seen them perform at some of South Africa’s most beloved music festivals, including the iconic Oppikoppi, Basha Uhuru, Nightscape at Design Indaba, The Search, and Smoking Dragon, among others. Mx Blouse has also completed two successful European tours, gracing stages in cities such as Lyon, Zurich, Bern, Basel, Leipzig, Berlin, Munich, and Nuremberg (GER).
In October 2023, Mx Blouse was honored as Spotify's global GLOW Artist of the Month, solidifying their place as a leading voice in the contemporary music scene.
Prior to this release, the EP’s title track, “Emotional Home,” was released on the 26th of July and has garnered favourable airplay on radio charts, major DSP placements and is a firm favourite amongst their fans, offering fans an early taste of Mx Blouse’s latest creative exploration.
The Music Arena unveiled the Emotional Home EP during an exclusive listening session, hosted by Levi's® in Parktown North. The event attracted musicians, influencers, and the press, all gathered to celebrate this significant release. Mx Blouse and their band delivered a powerful performance, including a collaboration performance with Amara Fleur. Following the performance, Mx Blouse engaged in a Q&A session facilitated by Maneo, offering insights into their creative process.
The EP's lead single, "Higher Self," sets a strong precedent for the rest of the project.
